What to include, so we can help on the first reply:

Please don't send us: your banking username or password, a two-factor code, screenshots showing full account numbers, or your export passphrase. We will never ask for any of them, and we cannot use them — see what support can and can't see.

Common questions

How do I cancel my subscription, or get a refund?

Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought from, not by us.

Cancel at least 24 hours before your period ends to avoid the next charge. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies — we can't issue them, though we're happy to help you make the request. Cancelling never deletes your data: your records stay readable and exportable.

My free trial is ending. What happens to my data?

Nothing is deleted. If you don't subscribe, new entries and bank sync stop, but everything you've already recorded stays on your device — readable and exportable, indefinitely. Take an export any time from Settings → Privacy & Security → Export everything.

A bank connection stopped working. What now?

Connections break for reasons outside our control — banks change their systems, and some institutions require you to re-authorise periodically. Try, in this order:

  1. Open the account in the app and tap Reconnect. Most breaks are fixed by re-authorising.
  2. Check whether your bank is asking you for something on its own site or app (a new consent, a re-login, a security prompt).
  3. If it still fails, convert the account to manual — you keep every entry, and nothing is lost while you wait.
  4. Email us with the institution name and roughly when it stopped. We can see connection health and the reason code, which is often enough to tell you whether waiting will fix it.
My connection was removed automatically. Why?

Connections that haven't been used for an extended period are disconnected automatically, after a warning to you. It's a deliberate privacy measure: an open link to your bank that nobody is using is a risk with no benefit. You can reconnect whenever you like, and your history is untouched.

An imported transaction is wrong, duplicated, or missing.

Imported data comes from your institution via the aggregator and can be delayed, restated, or briefly duplicated while a pending transaction becomes a posted one. The app matches pending to posted and prevents duplicates, but you can always edit or merge entries yourself — and edits keep their history, so nothing is destroyed. Your bank's own statement is authoritative if it disagrees with what you see.

I got a new phone. How do I move my data?

On the old device: Settings → Privacy & Security → Export everything, and choose a passphrase. Move that file to the new device however you like, install the app, and import it. Your platform's own encrypted device backup may also restore the app — but don't rely on it: the database key is deliberately excluded from OS backups, so a restore on new hardware needs your export. Take the export first.

I forgot my app passphrase or my export passphrase.

We're honest about this because it matters: we cannot recover either one. There is no master key and no back door — that's what makes the encryption meaningful. If you can still open the app, change the passphrase in Settings now. If you can't, and you have no readable export, the data cannot be recovered by us or by anyone, and your only path forward is to start fresh.

How do I delete everything?

In the app: Settings → Privacy & Security → Delete all my data. It's immediate and permanent. Full detail, including what is and isn't covered, is on the delete your data page.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes. Recording, editing, budgets, reports, forecasts and export all work fully offline — the core app doesn't depend on our servers to do its job. Only bank sync, cloud AI and subscription checks need a connection.

Can I use it for a business, or share it with my partner?

It's designed for one person's personal finances. Nothing stops you tracking a side business in it, but it isn't accounting software and doesn't produce tax filings. Shared household use is on the roadmap rather than in the app today — if that's what you need, tell us, because we prioritise by what people actually ask for.

What support can and can't see

This is worth stating plainly, because it changes what we can help with:

Reporting a security issue

Email support@smartharmonyai.com with "Security" in the subject. We acknowledge within two business days, we won't pursue anyone acting in good faith, and we'll credit you if you'd like. Please don't test against other people's accounts or run denial-of-service attempts.

Accessibility

If something in the app is hard to use with a screen reader, larger text, reduced motion, or any assistive technology, tell us and we'll treat it as a defect rather than a request.

Privacy requests

To access, correct, export or delete personal data, or to ask a privacy question, email us with "Privacy" in the subject. Most requests are answered fastest by the in-app export and delete controls, which are immediate. See the Privacy Policy.
